End of frequent flyer partnership with Mexicana Airlines - FAQs

 
1)  Why is the frequent flyer partnership with Mexicana Airlines ending?
The changed business landscape has made it necessary for SIA and Mexicana Airlines to re-align our respective frequent flyer programmes.

2)  Now that I cannot earn and redeem miles on Mexicana Airlines, how will my membership benefits be affected?
Your benefits as a KrisFlyer member will not be affected. And as Singapore Airlines is a member of the Star Alliance, you will continue to enjoy many travel options in the Star Alliance network to Mexico and the United States of America.

Currently, there are 26 airlines in the Star Alliance, as follows:
Adria Airways, Air Canada, Air China, Air New Zealand, ANA, Asiana Airlines, Austrian, Blue1, bmi, Brussels Airlines, Croatia Airlines, EgyptAir, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, South African Airways, Spanair, SWISS International Airlines, TAP Portugal, Thai Airways, Turkish Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, Continental Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways and Singapore Airlines.

1) Will I still be able to earn KrisFlyer miles if my flight on Mexicana Airlines is taken on 20 October 2010?
Miles are earned based on date of flight.  And as long as your flight on Mexicana Airlines departs no later than 20 October 2010 (local time), you will earn KrisFlyer miles for a mileage-accruable flight. .

2) I have a return ticket on Mexicana Airlines and the first leg of the journey is on 14 October 2010, with the return leg on 21 October 2010. Will I earn miles for both legs of the journey?
Only the flight on 14 October 2010 will earn miles. The flight on 21 October 2010 will not earn miles as it is after the expiration of the frequent flyer partnership on 20 October 2010.

3) What can I do if the KrisFlyer miles for my flight before 20 October 2010 are still not credited after 20 October 2010?
If the miles still have not been credited 8 weeks after your flight, you can still submit a retroactive mileage claim after 20 October 2010.  The claim has to be submitted within 6 months from the Mexicana Airlines flight taken.

To submit a retroactive mileage claim, please download the Retroactive Mileage Claim form and fax the completed form to the number provided on the form.



1) I already have an upcoming award travel booked on Mexicana Airlines after 20 October 2010. The redemption was made before 20 October 2010, will my ticket still be valid when my travel is after 20 October 2010?
Yes, your award ticket is valid. Award tickets that are issued on/before 20 October 2010 (Singapore time 23:59hr) remain valid for 6 months from issuance date. Please do note that award travel (i.e. all sectors of your itinerary) must be completed by 20 April 2011.

2) I have redeemed my miles for an award flight on Mexicana Airlines for travel on 25 December 2010. Can I make changes to the booking after 20 October 2010?
Changes to your award travel on Mexicana Airlines cannot be made after 20 October 2010 (Singapore time 23:59hr). You can however, re-book your award travel on another partner airline. The change will be subject to prevailing service fees.

3) I have an award travel booked on Mexicana Airlines for travel after 20 October 2010. What happens to the KrisFlyer miles I redeemed for that flight if I cancel it after 20 October 2010?
